Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Rachel L — 23 Jan 2009

I have mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand, it is a very intriguing and sometimes heart breaking story...a true one at that. Production-wise, it could have been better. All of the shots of Monte Carlo were gorgeous and they captured the atmosphere of the concentration camps perfectly, but it was also kind of choppy in parts. I was also surprised at how little Sally talked. The supporting cast are who, and what, really make this film though. Mainly the prisoners. But when it came to the bad guys, Herzog really stole the show in that department.

On the other hand however, while this was an interesting story, I do feel that given the fuss people made over it, it is slightly overrated. Still a pretty good film though.
