Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Dan D — 28 Sep 2011
This is a heavy, but powerful film about a forger who is thrown into a concentration camp where he is then recruited to produce counterfeit money to help the Nazis sustain the war movement. Itâ(TM)s an intellectual film, juxtaposing two prime ideologies â" fighting for principle versus fighting for survival â" and presents an expansive spectrum of leanings in between.
The only drawback is that characters are used as ideological caricatures and as such, character development is rather one or two-sided at best. Well executed nonetheless with some very provocative scenes and performances.
