I didn't like this film the first time I watched it. It was harsh, cynical, and tough to watch. But the days and days I thought about it afterwards made me rewatch it, oh, about 10 times now.
Michael Caine was born to play Jack Carter, a nasty, selfish piece of work whose sense of "honour" in pursuing his brothers killing is not matched by his conscience.
