Review of Until Death (2007) by Baurushan J — 10 Jun 2012
The story is about a troubled heroin-addicted cop named Antony Stowe played by Jean-Claude Van Damme whom everybody dislikes while he is attempting to take down the city's most powerful drug lord played by Stephen Rea.
His life is in shambles, his wife is pregnant with another man's child and when the bust goes awry, two of his fellow officers end up dead as Stowe is captured with a bullet jammed in his skull, ending up in a coma miraculously.
Stowe wakes up a a better person from his hospital bed to find out that the same men he almost died attempting to finish off have kidnapped his wife. With every remaining lifeline he has got, Stowe must finish off his most powerful enemy no matter what it costs.
For one of the first times in history, Jean-Claude Van Damme has proved he can act while taking a break from his overloaded action movies. This movie os a heartfelt drama definitely inserted with a little bit of what Jean-Claude needs.
Until Death gets a 8/10.
