Review of The Owl vs Bombo (1984) by Movie K — 05 Feb 2014

The ending is quite abrupt. Not the usual type of action comedy. Storyline is quite weird to involve the detention centre. Lack of action, comedy, direction. Sammo Hung rob a bank with fake GPMG. But the dynamite to blast open the vault is real and he got his big haul.

George Lam lead a team to a raid. The thug ask his caretaker to pass the bag of money to a location. They pretend to play cards. The big boss James Tien visit but there's no more people outside. Thug call a police informant to confirm there's no raid.

George team is bunch of crooks and the caretaker is also his men. This is their last mission. Stanley Fung couldn't nail the baddies group and his superior ask him to take leave. He quit instead. Sammo receive a letter with the writer saying he have the proof of him robbing the bank, he must meet at a place for the secret to be kept.

George also receive a letter. Stanley is the one who send the letter. He want the duo to work together. Deannie Yip meet them at the restaurant. She's from juvenile detention centre and thank them for been volunteers.

They want to back out but Stanley call to warn them. They turn up at the centre and duty is to help the delinquents find job. Stanley work as cleaner. Michelle Yeoh is one of the volunteer teacher and soft spoken.

The kids are a tough bunch. Sammo date Deannie to find out more but fail. A girl (Season Ma) diss Michelle for been rich, never will understand how tough life they have live. George try to comfort the crying Michelle, Sammo thought they had sex so she cry.

Stanley act as dumb/deaf and pass a letter to Sammo. This mission is to bid for a land lot as high as possible. James is also vying for it but Sammo bid it at $30 million. George is caught by James and he lure Sammo out.

He want to pay $15 million for that land. The duo fight their way but is outnumbered, force to sell the land. The kids still mock Michelle, George give them a pep talk. Season apologise to Michelle. George bring them to a field trip and prove that appearance is important.

Sammo saw Stanley talking and think its fishy. He meet with another police and plan to use the duo to nail James. The baddies find out George is the one who cheated his money. Sammo know Stanley is the person who instruct them.

James threaten the kids to bait George. Sammo beat Stanley and one of the kid say George is in danger. Michelle report to the police and Stanley boss warn James. The conversation is recorded and its a trap by Stanley.

Sammo go to the warehouse to save George. The kids arm themselves and ride bicycle to join in the fight. The police arrive to clear the mess. Stanley didn't reveal the duo crimes.
