Review of The Owl vs Bombo (1984) by Sarfaraz A — 20 Jul 2013
Owl vs Bombo directed by Sammo Hung. Film stars Sammo Hung, George Lam and Deannie Ip, Michelle Yeoh.
The Owl (Lam) is a criminal master at tricks to live life - he plays a trick on notorious gangster in locality of Hong Kong and then keeps a low profile to dodge both police and gangster, but slowly he has got accustomed to social lifestyle. Bombo (Sammo Hung) is a short-tempered who once robbed a bank - using fake machine-gun, however, since then he likewise is keeping his head down - giving dance classes to elderly women of Hong Kong. The two are blackmailed by a recently disgraced police officer to help him in several cases to correct he local Youth Probation center (run by Deannie Ip and Michelle Yeoh) where the juveniles are sure gonna give the police hard time in future - they are also asked to distract criminal-minded land developer from buying lands.
Sammo Hung can best utilize his kicks and fists to elevate film's momentum to a level that has been considered generally enjoyable by the audience and fans alike. Deannie Ip is good (though short of his fight scenes - seems Sammo in charge at fight-caliber). Good message given through establishment of Youth Center -.
