Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Alan J — 17 Mar 2008
Yeah, yeah, yeah.... the book is better. Let's get THAT out of the way right off the bat.
But you know what? EVERYBODY here did an incredible job with this film and it deserves to be watched for what it is:
An ADAPTATION...
Good performances (Connery is fantasic... Abraham is outstanding... Perlman is astounding!)...
The locations and setting (even the weather...) is spot on! It's all so gloomy and dread-filled!!!
A great mystery with murder, sex, the occult, ancient manscripts and creepy old monks!
Excellent!
You will not regret watching this film....
