Review of The Gay Bed and Breakfast of Terror (2007) by Alyssa N — 26 Jan 2011
It's obvious from the start that writer/director Jaymes Thompson was trying to make a movie so over-the-top and intentionally bad that it's funny. The problem with this strategy is that sometimes, like here, it just comes out bad.
This is the kind of movie a group of friends might make together for laughs, but the result is that they have more fun making it than the audience does watching them, and I was squirming in my chair as joke after joke fell flat.
Camp can be entertaining, but it can also be obnoxious, as Thompson and his cast prove here. It doesn't help matters that the acting and script are both atrocious, and painful to watch and listen to respectively.
