Review of The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970) by Lance D — 06 Dec 2010
Jason Robards captures the audience with his protrayl of Cable Hogue in this Sam Peckinpah directed movie. From the very first scene, you are engaged with the well being of Cable Hogue after his friends leave him in the desert to die with no water.
Sam Peckinpah's style of close-ups and quick camera cuts work well, and back in 1970, may have been a head of its time still. You may be wondering if this is a drama or a spoof, but it certainly has plenty of strong acting and cinematic flair.
