Review of Spartacus (1960) by Luiz A — 15 Dec 2010
While there are iconic moments scattered throughout, I've always found most of it to be pretty dull. The film only is really exciting when Laurence Olivier, Charles Laughton, and Peter Ustinov are on screen out acting everyone else.
Stanley Kubrick's heart clearly wasn't in this and it shows. I don't dislike it, but it just doesn't really appeal to me as a legitimate classic.
