Fellini knows about nightmares just as he knows about dreams. I suspect that Tinto Brass was heavily influenced by this film when he made Caligula but I'm certain that Brass has a lot to learn from the master Fellini when it comes to theatricality; mise en scene, lighting and costumes, and acting.
