Review of London to Brighton (2006) by Roberto A — 28 Dec 2007
Relentless and unflinching, "London to Brighton" is a lurching trip down to some Old Testament justice, and a very subtle meditation on the criminality of standing by and doing nothing. Very impressive debut from Paul Andrew Williams, a director to definitely watch out for.
But a good amount of the credit goes to Lorraine Stanley and Johnny Harris for their raw, perfectly measured performances. Good companion piece to the equally tense and unsentimental "Dead Man's Shoes".
You'll need a cigarette, too, after you finish this one.
