Review of London to Brighton (2006) by David B — 25 Sep 2013
Paul Andrew Williams? stunning debut film is a real tour de force of gritty British realism. Made on a very tight budget London to Brighton is a gripping tale. Incorporating a very good script, some great editing, a very edgy score and getting the very best out of a virtually unknown (until now) cast of British actors, Williams has created one of Britain?s finest pieces of film.
The film does have some flaws, but they are few and far between and do not prevent the film losing any of its hard edge with an ending you saw coming.
Arguably I have never seen a better debut British film more deserving of a place on my DVD shelf next to such British greats as Nil by Mouth and The Long Good Friday than London to Brighton.
