Review of Kiss the Ground (2020) by Jacobturner — 27 May 2021
Kiss the Ground delivers an infectiously hopeful mood that is blended with the gravity of one of humanity’s most important issues. The climate crisis is often a topic of negativity, but Joshua and Rebecca Tickell prove in their documentary that hope lies in the practice of regenerative farming.
The practice is illustrated as paramount to the reduction of CO2 emissions, and a diverse group of guests from field experts to farmers bring their own knowledge and personal experience as proof. Woody Harrelson’s narration is genuine and effective, and along with the other celebrity guests, he brings a special element of character to Kiss the Ground.
The beautiful cinematography works seamlessly with the narrative in order to create rich, detailed visualizations. Kiss the Ground is successfully informative, while also remaining uniquely entertaining.
