Review of Kiss the Ground (2020) by Autumnbhall — 02 Jun 2023
The Tickells have perfectly created a film that takes a broad and complex topic and makes it palatable for all audiences. The use of notable public figures such as Tom Brady, Woody Harrelson, and Jason Mraz kept me engaged and interested in their passions for the environment and nutrition.
Additionally, the music in the film aligned with the tone with ease and added personality to the story. The hopeful tone is what sets this film apart from other environmental documentaries that often have a doomful feeling and leave the audience feeling useless.
I like how Kiss the Ground provides approachable solutions for the audience to contribute to soil regeneration in easy, but important ways. I’m very grateful that the filmmakers were able to tell the global history of agriculture in a way that makes the audience understand climate change and care about our part in it.
