Review of Get Carter (1971) by David F — 01 Apr 2008
This was my first stop in trying to catch up on the British gangster classics. The film keeps an overall dour mood with it's workin' class grays and brutal bluntness. Caine is great as a ruthlesssly cold gangster you're really not rooting for but nonetheless agree with his quest for vengeance.
It's clear this film has influenced many others and although it's dated, it's not to the point where it's distracting or unwatchable. If you're ever curious as to what one of Caine's best earlier roles were.
...here's one of 'em.
