Review of From Here to Eternity (1953) by Marj D — 02 May 2011
Just brilliant. The director insisted on shooting this in black and white and he was right to do so because there is nothing to detract attention from the story and the fine acting of the entire cast. I find that especially interesting now that the debate about the merits of 3D films is ongoing.
All the special effects and stunning visuals in the world don't make up for the lack of good acting and a good story, which this film has in spades.
