Review of Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) by Matt K — 26 Jul 2008
Still trying to tell everybody he's not a bigoted racist mo-fo, DW Griffith makes this film about a subtle romance between a young girl and a Chinese man. It is a very powerful story, with the girl's father beating her and the generally poor living conditions at the time.
Not as mind-blowing as Birth of a Nation or Intolerance, but a very very good film.
