Review of Broken Blossoms or The Yellow Man and the Girl (1919) by Art S — 29 Oct 2011
It is in Broken Blossoms that we witness GW Griffith's Best and Gish's best performance. The male leads were compelling, however the Caucasians-as-Asians (Yellow Man and Evil Eye) performances were a little comical although they were not meant to be.
The squinting was just a little funny.
