Review of Blood Into Wine (2010) by Andrew J — 10 Jan 2011
An unusual tale of Maynard James Keenan, the hard-rocking, eccentric front man of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer who abruptly left Los Angeles in the mid-1990s to start a world-class vineyard in Arizona.
At it's heart, Blood into wine is an underdog story. The film details the difference between a vineyard in Arizona from all other locations, and details the thought process and hardships that Keenan went through to make his new passion in Winemaking a reality.
Though its very uneven, one minute you'll be completely engaged and the next scene will make you wonder if the documentary is any good at all, Blood into Wine has just enough philosophical and factual discussions to pass the taste test.
