Review of Zardoz (1974) by Dannon R — 14 Aug 2010
Richard Kelly take note. This is how you do super freak out apocalyptic scifi. Actually Richard Kelly, take cyanide, and die, and stop making movies. Maybe that was too harsh, but seriously, stop making movies.
Anyway this movie, like most brilliant pieces of genius is at both times the greatest scifi epic ever and the worst. It mixes over the top allegory with cutting edge symbolism with laughable dialog and inspired story telling. Half the time you're facepalming the other half your palm palming (?).
Awesome. Totally awesome. What a completely absurd, insane, crazy piece of insanity. Boorman, you're a risk taker and a love maker. Keep on trucking.
