Review of Zardoz (1974) by John A — 19 Feb 2016
Although it can't achieve it's grand ambitions, the film is smart, it has some sharp dialogue & the surrealism-on-a-shoestring visuals are undeniably striking.
An underrated futuristic social satire, that is self-indulgent & thought provoking. Zardoz is a crazy mix of high camp (Sean Connery running around in a red nappy), serious speculative sci-fi & budget but visually striking effects. This may not be your usual run of the mill, everyday sci-fi/fantasy, but it is enjoyable. Although Visually dated, it's definitely worth a look.
