Review of Zardoz (1974) by David S — 16 Oct 2010
Wow.
There is weird movies and there are WEIRD Movies..
Sean Connery plays the part of Zed, a common assassin and rapist minding his own funky buisness with other assassins and rapists in the year of 2293.
Then he gets a change in working duties from killer to slave-driver. He gets grumpy and decides to kill off the "etarnals", the people who can't die and live in a big bubble.
The etarnal men look like Roger Daltrey in Woodstock and the women look like egyptian whores. They have the gift to age people as a penalty by mind control.
Connery is playing the part of Zed in a red bikini underpart with dual Mexican cartridge belts in matching color.
It's a psycodelic ride in violence, occasional nudity and new age, a travel in time and mind, or it's a just one long bad trip, on bad acid or old clams or something. It's not boring, just very strange.
