I must have seen the 1976 television broadcast. Sure there are bits that are very, very dated now but it has this defiant edge to it that still resonates. For the budget and the short shooting schedule they had it looks all the more impressive.

The influence has echoed through the years too. Suggest you watch the anime Cowboy Bebop (set in 2071 but everything seems to have a 1971 vibe) and the questions surrounding the main characters of that one, which seem similar to Kowalski.
