Review of Vampire's Kiss (1989) by Jon-James H — 24 Jul 2012
One bat shit crazy film. Cage is the only redeeming feature in this film that circles the drain of insanity. Circles, because it simply refuses to end. Watching madness unfold just doesn't hold the attention when there's no dilemma or consequence to the actions. Peter's relationship with his secretary is the highlight of the film, but it doesn't take center stage and its resolution is predictably weak. For some bizarre reason Cage switches in and out of a poorly imitated English accent throughout the film. Perhaps his character was suppose to be English, but it certainly doesn't come across.
Vampire's Kiss could have been a uniquely entertaining film, but it's almost like watching a Cage monologue that goes on for an hour too long.
