Review of Under the Volcano (1984) by Bill M — 07 Feb 2008
Criminally overlooked and under-appreciated chapter of Huston's career. Remains well ahead of its time. Startlingly unbiased storytelling with a hint of insanity to ratchet it up a notch. Finney's performance reminds us of how sugar-coated most drunk performances tend to be.
Bruising and magnificent.
