Review of Thief (1981) by Chris Q — 16 Feb 2015
(Watched in 2015) A film that belongs in it's era. It's too long, the drama is dated, and the music irritating sometimes. But I could find solace in watching a director in his infancy, trying things.
Sometimes failing, sometimes succeeding. The story is good, if protracted. I seemed to me that Mann was having the most fun shooting the safe-cracking scenes. Caan is left to do his thing, but if there is someone you can do that with, it's him.
