You can kind of roll your eyes at the shit thrown in Apu's way, but overall it works and completes one of the finest film trilogies ever made. It's a simple trilogy, about life, and doing nothing extraordinary except living.
Seeing Apu grow into a man is a journey every person should take, as they will recognize a bit of themselves in Apu's quest. Terrific film, and a terrific trilogy.
