Review of The World of Apu (1959) by Joe L — 17 May 2010
Without a doubt one of the greatest film trilogies ever produced. the story finds new hope in the ashes of apu's past, by miraculously transforming the harrowing drama into a blissful romantic comedy.
the rug is pulled out from under us, however, in a narrative move that will have you cursing the cruel randomness of life. the story comes full circle in a beautiful and unexpected way. sharmila tagore is stunningly captivating as apu's beautiful bride of chance, who embraces his life of poverty as an escape from the boredom of wealth.
