Review of The Wiz (1978) by Timothy W — 19 Feb 2012
The Wiz is a great urban version of the Wizard of Oz. If a few of the early scenes had been elminated. It just takes too long to get to the payoff. The second half of the movie is infinitely better than the first.
Better music and choreography. You forget the urbanness and it takes on a characteristic of it's own. According to other sources, this movie cost $24 million to make. I can only imagine how this movie got out of control with so many creative minds and egos.
