Review of The Wiz (1978) by Sean D — 06 Dec 2015

Wiz, was weird. Awkward. Crazy. Yeah. And this was some of the worst signing that I've ever seen from our favorite artists in their heyday. But, it's a fun and crazy film. It's just crazy. The fact that there is one white character and they are the most powerful person in the entire film.

The beginning was completely irrelevant. A lot of the film is a complete waste of time like a lot of musicals, where the characters do nothing and just hit musical numbers just because. There were scenes that made little to no sense. The original Wiz will always have an awkward place in all of our hearts. But for now, since the remake arrived on the scene 3 days ago, I'm hoping it's a lot better and streamlined than this version.
