Sometimes you need a lot fun to keep you occupied and The Warriors can help you out with that. This 1979 cult classic about a gang hunted by other gangs of New York has captivated me and makes me want to watch it again.

The Warriors as the gang themselves make for a really cool team of people just trying to get by without being caught. Almost everyone in the group is given a little depth to their character and have a purpose.

Swan is a character that only acts when totally necessary and looks for love where he doesn't want to have it easy. Ajax is reckless and goes hardcore because he needs to get his anger out. When the one scene came up where (spoiler) Ajax gets caught, the characters felt humanized and real the way that they came back for their friend and it's a necessary add in to the arc of those characters.

Some of the acting however, was a bit crazy and overacting would work well in this film if more than a few people were acting that way. Unfortunately David Patrick Kelly is the only serious overactor in the film and he felt a bit out of place given that no one else in The Rogues said anything and contained themselves.

The different gangs were creative and funny like the Furies, the Punks, the Orphans, and the Lizzies. The fights between the opposing gangs made for some really entertaining and well choreographed action.

I especially love the one between the Punks since they so goofy and made for a funny and entertaining scene. The score was hypnotic and heart pounding when it needed to be and makes this movie all the more memorable because of its unique soundtrack and how it set up an intoxicating atmosphere for the characters to run around.

The only thing I would ask for more of is runtime because even though the way I enjoyed the way it concluded I still wanted to see more gangs and interaction between the Warriors. All I can say is that this film is a ton of fun and it's not just fun, it's well written and extremely entertaining.

B+.
