Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Leif H — 03 Apr 2010
I'm not going to butterscotch it, this film is harsh and as another user observed it's very "emotionally draining". The film shows Sweden on the verge of becoming a Christian nation and symbolises the savagry of the pagans in a controversial (at the time) rape scene.
That key part of the plot is very important in the events that occur in the rest of the film but I must not spoil it because this is a film you should see if you are prepared for a rather grim, dark tale.
