Review of The Six Degrees of Helter Skelter (2009) by Brandon W — 26 Mar 2014
It's an extremely dark, twisted and interesting tale, one of the Manson family who went of a killing spree for no sane reason. The whole topic has been shrouded in different versions of events and different people being involved at different times, depending on who you talk to.
This film tries to debunk all the myth about the story and set the record straight as to what happened with Manson and his followers, the result... an insightful but generic documentary ran by a presenter who is far to committed to knowing and collecting every hollywood gold that he can.
It's not that hes annoying, hes just not a presenter and so we are essentially watching a fan boy of hollywood wandering about telling us about these famous locations, he even throws his own theories in there, which kind of goes against the whole point hes trying to make.
Its not horrendous though, its an informative and semi enjoyable watch, however it leaves you on such an unsatisfying note that you feel an extra 10 minutes could have been spent wrapping it up better, instead were left with lazy text to do so, with some eerie music.
underwhelming.
