Review of Only the Brave (2017) by Brandon W — 21 Oct 2017
Only the Brave is directed by Joseph Kosinski, and it stars Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch, and Jennifer Connelly in biographical action drama about a true story of a group of firefighters who dealt with wildlife fires for a long time, and how they live their lives outside their job.
After watching a horrible sequel, I wanted to see something that I actually wanted to watch, and so right after work, I drove as fast as I can under the speed limit to get to the movie theater, and managed to do so with only the lasts of the trailers playing.
Honestly with Joseph Kosinski's impressive filmography, this is his best film so far. The cast in this is huge, and everybody in this is really solid, and the characters that the actors portray are well-established that you understand about how much the group is basically like family to each other.
The writing by Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer is well-written that seems to understand that the characters are more important than the events that happen because that's the way for the events to make it more intense.
The fire effects look so good that I honestly don't know if it's real or not. It pays tribute to the subjects very well that I'm glad this film was made so that we know more about the true story that happened to the real life crew of the Granite Mountain Hotshots.
