A tragic but beautiful tale of a man finding happiness and love in a beautiful and unexpected place. Cate Blanchett shines as the heartless Petal, and, though not even close to who he was, in the book, much like Robin Williams in The World According To Garp, Kevin Spacey is still brilliant (as per usual) in the role of Quoyle.
The cinematography and scenery in this movie give a lesser-known gem like Newfoundland the recognition it deserves. The book was drastically different, but the screen adaptation is aboslutely stunning.
Annie Proulx should be proud.
