Review of The Satyr of Springbok Heights (2009) by Alyssa N — 02 Jan 2010
This movie started out so dull that it was hard for me to stay awake. We're introduced mocumentary-style to a whole host of characters, each of whom seems to be trying his or her utmost to be quirkier than the last, but none of whom is saying anything all that interesting.
Just when I became convinced that there was no plot to this movie, just a string of loosely connected interviews that, with a few exceptions, aren't as amusing as they try to be, the satyr in the title makes his first "appearance".
The whole idea is so brilliant that I can't believe the movie doesn't focus on him more. It made me realize what a clever satire this could have been, if only the rest of the story werenâ??t so forgettable.
