Review of The Real Jurassic Park (1993) by Renzo V — 23 Jun 2014
"PREHISTORIC THEME PARK".
- 'Jurassic Park' is a 1993 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg (Jaws, E. T.) and based on the novel by Michael Crichton. This movie forms the first installment of the popular dinosaur film franchise with the same name. It's my favorite movie, due because it was the first one I saw in the theatres and it has everything a movie needs. What kid doesn't like dinosaurs? I really love the story, although a lot of drastic changes have been made in comparison to the novel, and the effects and sounds are absolutely amazing. Undeniable, this is the film I have seen the most, and even now I still spot little details that feel like I never saw before. 'Jurassic Park' is the greatest film ever made and won three Academy Awards. It was an absolute blockbuster and had a whole merchandise around it. I also would like to praise John Williams the fantastic soundtrack, and of course the cast of 'Jurassic Park': starring Sam Neil (Dead Calm, The Tudors), Laura Dern (October Sky, I Am Sam), sir Richard Attenborough (The Great Escape, Miracle on 34th Street), Jeff Goldblum (The Fly, Independence Day), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Star Wars prequels), Ariana Richards (Tremors, Battledogs) , Joseph Mazzello (The River Wild, The Hollow), Wayne Knight (Space Jam, Rat Race), Bob Peck (Edge of Darkness, Lord of the Flies) and Martin Ferraro (Oscar, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot). "Welcome to Jurassic Park.".
Paleontologist Alan Grant (Neil) and his girlfriend paleobotanist Ellen Sattler (Dern) are invited by the eccentric millionaire John Hammond (Attenborough) to visit his theme park on an island near Costa Rica and give their honest opinion. In the helicopter they meet lawyer Donald Gennaro (Ferraro), who represents the park's investors, and his guest mathematician Ian Malcolm (Goldblum). Shortly after their arrival, the group is stunned to see a living Brachiosaurus. Hammond's scientists have succeeded in cloning extinct dinosaurs, that are now ready to be shown in 'Jurassic Park'.
The group is joined by Hammond's grandchildren Lex (Richards) and Tim (Mazzello) for a tour in the park. While the guests take place in the automatically controlled vehicles, John goes to the control room to follow the ride. Unfortunately, several of the dinosaurs fail to appear. When the cars are near the triceratops area, the group steps out and stumble upon the park's veterinary who is treating an ill triceratops. Ellie offers him to help examine the creature and stays behind, as the others continue the tour. When a storm is approaching the island, most of the employers are going home for the weekend, only chief engineer Ray Arnold (Jackson), the park's game warden Robert Muldoon (Peck) and computer programmer Dennis Nedry (Knight) are staying. When Nedry, who has been hired by the corporal rival to steal embryos, deactivates the security system, all hell is about to break lose. The cars with the guests have stopped in front of the Tyrannosaurus Rex paddock. With no electrical fences to stop her, the prehistoric animal attacks...
