Review of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) by Jared B — 13 May 2018
Phantom of the Opera has aged to some degree due to being a silent film in 1925, but it is a masterpiece in visuals, expressionism, pathos, and Lon Chaney's stellar performance as the Phantom. The film has great makeup for the Phantom by Lon Chaney himself and the scenes of the masquerade ball are a visual spectacle.
It might be slow to some, but the film is one of the silent eras masterpieces and is the most faithful adaptation to the Phantom of the Opera.
