Hollywood's greatest silent horror classic, dominated of course by the immortalising performance of Lon Chaney as the disfigured criminal genius lurking beneath the depths of the Paris Opera House.
Rupert Julian's much-plagued (but ultimately endearing)production isn't a masterpiece but it is terrific entertainment.
