Review of The Panic in Needle Park (1971) by Tyler P — 26 Jan 2013
Decent little title. Runs too long, and some of the decisions by some of the characters felt a bit unrealistic. (Most notably, why did Helen decide to try the heroin? And her slide into hardcore addiction seemed much too swift, though the way time passes in this movie is ambiguous at best.
) Regardless, it's never a bad thing to have to stare at Kitty Winn for nearly two hours. And there were some interesting directorial decisions which help Needle Park stand out from other, similar movies (Born To Win comes to mind).
