Review of The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) by Camden N — 07 Mar 2010
Unlike Fritz Lang's Fury, this still holds up pretty well in terms of writing and performances. Though the opening ten minutes are a tad corny, the film proves to be a pretty realistic and heart wrenching portrayal of the monstrous mob mentality.
There were a few blatant editing gaffes that really bugged me, but everything else was handled pretty well - Wellman's direction in particular is impressively creative at times, especially his handling of the letter reading sequence at the end.
