Review of Blazing Saddles (1974) by Mitch S — 14 Sep 2014
Terrible movie. Humor? Where? Everything is predictable.....even the bad jokes. It's one thing to intentionally be campy. It's another to be able to see every joke that's coming before it happens.
Personally, I think 1974 was probably the least funniest periods in the history of movie making. Brooks might have done better if he just made the whole movie as one big show tune with drag queens dressed up as Indians dancing with cowboys in a mine shaft.
....I mean there is nothing original or interesting in this movie beyond Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.....who btw went on to make really funny movies. I think Brooks might have learned something from those two.
