Review of The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) by Yi L — 03 May 2018
The film indeed looks like an 'incident' with a very short runtime, and yet it utilizes it to the fullest developing almost every character it has and it is a movie of about twenty different characters in sum.
This feat not every 3-hour long movie can achieve having couple of characters in its plot. The film itself explores a very serious theme of 'every man has a right to a fair trial'. The ending is a bit didactic with a Jesus-like showcasing of the main victim of the movie, Martin, but still the movie holds pretty strong, especially considering the time of its creation when these subjects were of utmost importance.
The movie is pretty verbose as to my liking but it is mostly a cracking and wise kind of dialogue.
