Review of The Man Who Laughs (1928) by Michael C — 04 Jul 2018
"The Man Who Laughs" certainly has many positive aspects to it. The movie is very well made and the cast does a very good job. The late Conrad Veidt is terrific in the title role. His makeup is also very convincing.
However this movie has been described as a horror movie. I did not see this movie as such. I see it more as a romantic drama instead and that is not a bad thing. If you decide to see this movie, don't expect to be scared.
Instead expect to see a well made movie with an excellent cast and a very compelling story. If you have that impression in mind I think you will enjoy the film more. It's almost hard to believe the movie is ninety years old.
How time flies.
