Review of The Hustler (1961) by Sarah C — 23 Aug 2009
I put this on expecting some kind of fast-talking, low-riding, straight-shooting excursion into ... well ... hustling, really. Instead, I found myself wandering off to hang the washing out and get dinner on, and the damn thing was still playing some time later when I got back.
In fact, the entire viewing experience was something along the lines of "Ooh, that's Jackie Gleason, he played Smokey in Smokey and the Bandit." Followed two hours later by "Oh my god, hasn't this film finished yet?" Utterly yawnsome.
