Review of The Man Who Laughs (1928) by Richard G — 17 Oct 2010
Made in 1927,A Boy's face is disfigured by a gypsy surgeon which leaves him with a paralyzed smile on his face,he grows up to be a hit with Audiences on the Travelling circus with his blind lover Dea,however his life changes when he finds out about his origin and this new lifr threatens his relationship with Dea.
A Romantic Drama from the silent era from Universal,Conrad Veidt is magnificent as Gwynplaine the man who laughs, his performance is sympathetic and often moving, interesting to hear that Bob Kane got his idea for the joker off this character, its a good film.
