Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) by David R — 04 Jan 2009
All the style we'd expect from Hitchcock without any of the urgency or intrigue. James Stewart and Doris Day are good, but the kid who plays their son (who is more obnoxious than precocious) never feels in real jeopardy, and the movie bounces from one preposterous coincidence to the next on its way to a conclusion so hurried it's actually uncomfortable and funny.
The Albert Hall sequence is really the only great thing about this. Rent "Ransom" instead for a similar premise with more danger and smarter villains.
