Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) by Luca D — 02 Sep 2014
Hitchcock remakes his classic British thriller and replaces the grit for gloss, and changes the mother from a competitive rifle shooter to a famous singer. Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day take the lead as parents on a trip to Morocco who become embroiled in an assassination plot when they are given info of the plot from a dying spy, and have their little boy kidnapped to shut them up.
It is a fine thriller from the Master of Suspense, as good as the original if not better. By this point Hitch was on a roll and in his prime as a filmmaker.
