Review of The Long, Hot Summer (1958) by Stephanie G — 24 Sep 2007
Again, Paul Newman; what can I say? Similar in plot with Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (Southern family strongly ruled by the patriarch). Only this time Newman wasn't the son. It was interesting to see how women were regarded in those days.
I like the spunk of Clara Varner because she was the only Varner family member who would stand up to her father. She ended up doing what her father wanted, but it was on her own terms.
